Use the tarp after snow has melt. Let the weeds sprout and cover with blackout cloth. Remove the fabric after 2 to 6 weeks for weed-free soil.
Ideal in combination with green manure. Fill in the green manure and cover it with the shade cloth. The canvas cuts the light which causes the green manure to die and the heat activates the microorganisms that will decompose the organic matter.
